8/26/2019 0 Comments Getting settledI ended up finding a officetel in Gangnam on craigslist about one and a half weeks ago. I didn't have much options to choose from because I needed to find a place before school starts. The time it take me to get to Ewha University is about an hour and 20 minutes. However, the location is great because there are lots of places to shop and eat nearby! I have went to my school orientation and have toured the campus. I have seen the campus on the university's website and on Youtube, but it does not do it any justice! In the picture I took, you can see this huge walkway that begins at the front gate. The walls on the sides of the walkway are actually buildings with classrooms and have numerous facilities inside them! I have also picked out my classes and the following picture is my schedule for this semester. My schedule does not list the time because it goes by block numbers. On Monday, my first class is 11:00-1:45 and I have a break until my next class, which is at 3:30-4:45. On Wednesday, I have school at 2:00-4:45. On Friday, I have school at 12:30-1:45. I do not have school on Tuesdays and Thursdays (:

Pre-departureIn order to prepare for my upcoming semester in Seoul, I had gone to the embassy a month early from my departure date for my student visa, which was August 4. However, I could not obtain one even though I have been an American citizen my whole life because my father got his citizenship after I was born. I had to go through a very long and difficult process to acquire a Korean I.D. Please contact me if you have any questions about this process (especially if your ethnicity is Korean), as my other Korean American peers went through the same situation. My email is [email protected]. Other than preparing for documents to enter the country, I prioritized packing, making sure I had all my necessities packed a few days before my departure date. I went to the doctor to get refills for the medication I will be needing for the months ahead. I also called my bank to let them know I will be living in Korean until the end of December so I can freely use my cards without any foreign transaction fees. My number one tip would be to prepare for these types of things for the new semester as soon as the current semester ends! |
